When I am watching a film on my lap top after a while the screen goes dark then touch a key and its back to normal....i presume this is some kind of hibernation.

How do I extend the time so it doesn't do it?

Secondly I want to hook the laptop up to my telly (lcd job) what cable do i need?

What operating system are you using mate, xp?

If your laptops a newish one it might have a hdmi port (Google image search it) your Tele should def have a hdmi on it. If not there's other ways

OS is vista

Both the tv and laptop have a HDMI port.

Okay if you you can get alright hdmi leads on ebay, invest in 1.
Check your screen saver settings 'right click the desktop area' and hit properties somewhere in here should be your screen saver setting. BUT if it happens only when running on battery its more than likely power setting, you can get to these under the control panel. If your still stuck tomorrow ill get you the exact steps...
