call me weak but I like the look of this sport
spme of them bitches are bad ass. Makes Graham even more gay!
Hi guys,
Not been on here for ages.
But had to respond to this thread. I've taken up crossfit since last September. A totally different way of training.
I find the intensity and the technical aspect really testing.
And I've struggled to abandon heavy slow reps....still do that type of session twice a week.
By the way....someone once said they were entering a powerlifting comp. and hoped to break 1000Lgs for the total Squat, Deadlift and Bench.
I recently did this......so crossfit hasn't caused huge strength loss ofe me....yet!!
Graham
nice grahmmy, what were your lift numbers?
glad to see you back by the way
Guy on another board was saying all his big 3 numbers went up after he added in crossfit
all around health is never a bad thing
plus your hitting a lot more stabilizers, fast twitch mucles and muscles from different angles...there is no way that can hurt
Ya I look like that....hhahahaha with little photoshop and airbrushing lmao. a year off my leg has sure added to the waistline...
Straad,
My numbers as follows:-
Bench Press 160kg (352Lbs)
Dead Lift 155kg (341 Lbs)
Squat 165kg (363 Lbs)
Total 1056 Lbs.
Before I get flamed, i know my Dead and Squat should be way higher than my bench but I have a long standing Knee injury (ruptured PCL) and it has lead to a great weakness in my left leg. Embarrassing, cos my son is only 17 years old, weighing 70kg and he can Deadlift the same as me!!
If I posted some of the WODs (Workouts) we do at Crossfit, most people would probably think they are too easy. But it's really surprising how hard they are to complete in a decent time.
One straightforward example is a WOD called GRACE.
You simply have to Lift 155Lbs from the floor to overhead 30 times. Try it!! Sounds easy......It's not!!
My time was 4min 21 secs. But I'm one of the newest at the Crossfit gym and many bettered my time!
Graham
only people who flame are the ones that don't have the balls to compete
I have never met anything but great friendly and helpful people in powerlifting
its amazing
Do you deadlift standard or sumo?
I also had major knee surgery. I probably don't need to lift sumo but i prefer it as it takes my knees almost all the way out of the lift
try it if you haven't and see how it feels.
It will put more strain on your back but hey, give and take right.
and people that bash crossfit haven't tried it
it is hard core. I have done it a couple times but honestly I prefer rolling jitz
its cardio just the same and involves pulling and pushing at all different angles without the repetition of the gym
its like the difference between running vs. playing basketball
you run you get tired cause you have nothing to think about but running, basketball you can run for hours cause your mind isnt on it
same thing rolling, i can go till i die cause all i am thinking about is beating my opponent
Well done Graham.
I was gonna compete when I hit 1000, but shit happened last year so Ive put it on the back burner. Still heading for the total though. Deads dropped when I pulled my back but building them back up. Repping 265lb bench for 2 x 5 & just switched to box squats so building up on those too.
