So its getting closer now.
the event we have all been waiting for, the Iron girl columbia triathlon for the Iron Girl Competitors is only 4months away.
How is everyone doing with the preparation?
Hope nobody is getting injured?
Lisa Reichmann, profiled last week in Personal Best, competed in the Iron Girl Triathlon in Columbia, Md., on Aug. 24. She finished fifth out of 203 in her age group (30-34), second among first-time triathletes and 47th overall.
Reichmann said she enjoyed the race so much that she already signed up for the more difficult Make-A-Wish race at Bethany Beach, Del., on Sept. 20.
“I caught the bug,” Reichmann admitted with a laugh. The Bethany Beach race (0.93-mile swim, 25-mile bike, 6.2-mile run) involves an ocean swim, which Reichmann has never done before, so she aims to complete that triathlon in under three hours.
The 34-year-old Gaithersburg mother said she was pleased with her results — she finished the race in 1 hour, 46 minutes, 30 seconds, just a minute and a half short of her goal. The triathlon consisted of a 0.62-mile lake swim, 17.5-mile bike and a 3.4-mile run.
The women-only triathlon was a “very supportive” environment for Reichmann. She was impressed by the other competitors, who included teenagers and a 70-year-old, daughters, mothers and granddaughters, and a woman undergoing chemotherapy.
“It was really inspiring to be with them,” Reichmann said. – Sarah Raymond
